This role offers you the opportunity to study towards a Level 3 Machine Technician qualification. It provides you with the opportunity to work in a high precision manufacturing environment on a variety of machines. The training listed below will be given over a 3.5-year period, alongside day release for college and result in an industry recognised qualification, awarded on successful completion.
The Role / Training
You will learn processes involved in producing precision engineering components for use in pharmaceutical applications. This will include CNC milling (3 & 4 axis), CNC turning (basic 2 axis plus use of ‘live’ tooling for more complex parts), plus advanced turn-mill machining. Along with machining, you will learn inspection and quality control processes via use of conventional gauging plus co-ordinate measuring machines.
Tasks Will Include:
Setup and operation on a range of multi-axis CNC machine tools
Use of hard gauging and CMM equipment to ensure product quality working with fine tolerances
Working in stainless steels and heat resistant super alloys, as well as some plastics
Reading and understanding of ISO programming
Reading and interpreting technical drawings and documentation
Health and Safety in the workplace.
Requirements
A practical aptitude for engineering or technology
Passion and motivation for the subject
Ability to demonstrate high levels of accuracy and strong attention to detail
Excellent time keeping
PC literate
Good verbal and written communication skills
Excellent team working skills with the ability to work independently.
Effective at following instructions
Health and safety aware
Level 3 entry requirements: 4 GCSE’s at grade 4/C or above to include Maths and English
Age: Applicants must be aged 16 or over
