We have a great opportunity to join us in the position of Buyer here at ChargePoint Technology.  In this fixed term position, you will take responsibility for purchasing of both direct and indirect products as well as managing non-stock purchases that support day to day operations.

Reporting to the Supply Chain Manager and working in a small team, you will support our operations by making sure we get the right goods and services at the right quality, price and time.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Supplier management – lead all aspects of supplier oversight, including selection, performance, compliance, contract management and pricing negotiations, while driving cost improvements and maintaining accurate supplier records.
  • Supplier performance improvement – monitor spend and service levels and ensure all suppliers consistently meet the required quality, cost and delivery standards.
  • Purchase order management – prioritise and place purchase orders, ensuring suppliers receive accurate drawings and documentation, and maintain up-to-date pricing and lead-time information within the systems.
  • Order accuracy and delivery – ensure orders are acknowledged promptly, expedite deliveries where needed, and support the business with supplier, invoice and quality-related queries.
  • Data and process integrity – maintain high-quality purchasing data and identify opportunities to improve processes across the supply chain.
  • Collaboration and contribution – contribute to department projects and participate in purchasing meetings, providing cover and support where needed.
  • Reporting and analysis – produce regular purchasing and supplier reports and review reorder levels, MOQs and usage data to ensure accuracy.
  • Cross functional support – work with internal departments on supplier selection, issue resolution and risk mitigation, while supporting improvements to MRP/ERP processes.
  • Supplier quality performance – review supplier KPIs and collaborate with the Quality department to address issues and drive improvements.

You’ll bring a positive, solutions-focused approach to overcome challenges constructively.  Being an excellent communicator, you’ll listen carefully and respond to the needs of the business and build strong, collaborative relationships with colleagues and suppliers. You’ll have excellent written and numerical skills enabling you to produce clear documentation, spreadsheets and costing/stock models.  Strong organisational ability, attention to detail and the capacity to balance competing priorities will help you to be successful in this fast-paced environment.

Required Skills and Experience:

  • A minimum of 2 years buying experience in a similar role
  • Excellent knowledge of purchasing practices
  • Knowledge and experience of MRP/ERP systems
  • Competent in the use of Microsoft Office Packages

Working Hours:

37.5 hours per week

Monday to Thursday, starting between 8am/9am and finishing between 4pm/5pm, working 8 hours per day.

Friday, starting between 8am/9am and finishing between 2pm/3pm, working 5.5 hours.

Working Location:
This is an on-site position.
