Aseptic processing: reducing contamination risks with SBV technology

18 October, 2021 | ChargePoint Technology

With an increased need for aseptic manufacturing and product transfer in the pharmaceutical industry, many drug developers are outsourcing their sterile projects to contract development and manufacturing organisations (CDMOs). Chargepoint Technology’s senior product manager, Ben Wylie, spoke to Manufacturing Chemist about the increase in hybrid technologies such as the split butterfly valve (SBV), which when used alongside single-use bags, allow for the contained and sterile transfer of pharmaceutical ingredients. He also explains how the implementation of smart monitoring technology in these processes can improve both productivity and operational performance, allowing for preventative maintenance to be carried out when required.
