Closed transfer solutions are continuing to replace traditional open transfer techniques in the production of solid dose drugs, with solutions such as split butterfly valves (SBVs) seeing increased uptake due to the reduced risk of cross contamination and airborne dust particulate. Many manufacturers are now considering single use technology as an alternative to traditional containment solutions due to the reduction in manual handling contamination and washing and cleaning validation.
