Split butterfly valves (SBVs) are an established solution for transferring powders during bioprocessing. However, now that there is a disposable version of the passive half of the valve, it becomes a flexible solution to enable the contained and sterile transfer of pharmaceutical powders between manufacturing process steps and facilities which removes the time and cost associated with cleaning, maintenance and validation.
